New Providers Serve Trimark Communities —

In July of 2009, Dr. Ala’a Farahat made a big adjustment in moving from Tampa, Florida to Fort Dodge, Iowa to continue his practice with Trimark Physicians Group.
Dr. Farahat is one of 13 new providers who joined Trimark in 2009. This month’s feature will focus on several of these new providers, the transition to their new locations and how the communities received them.
Dr. Farahat joins Dr. Michael Lee in the practice of Nephrology, which consists of managing major diseases such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Anemia, and Chronic Kidney Disease. He enjoys being a Nephrologist because it excites him when he helps someone maintain or improve their quality of life. He has satellite clinics in Carroll, Pocahontas, Sac City, and Webster City where he manages patients and their kidney needs.
Dr. Farahat has had a positive beginning in Iowa. He says the people are friendly, and hopes to increase his participation in the community to meet more people.
Dr. James Turek’s transition has also been positive. Dr. Turek works in Obstetrics and Gynecology. His focus is in women’s health and pregnancy-related care.
He says the differences in working for Trimark are the company offers better benefits, an administration team that is willing to work collaboratively with physicians, and he enjoys working with his partners and staff.
For Dr. Bob Whitmore, his transition is a nice change of pace. Dr. Whitmore came from a large residency program in North Carolina where the hospital had over 400 beds and the medical staff followed the residents very closely. He is currently building a Family Practice and Obstetrics practice at the Trimark Buena Vista Clinic in Storm Lake.
He is also able to continue his favorite recreations. He is an avid hunter and fisherman and says he has found a great circle of peers to help him develop his “outdoor” practice.
Another physician new to Storm Lake is Dr. Jason Huisenga. Dr. Huisenga also came from a residency program and practices Family Medicine and Obstetrics at the Trimark Family Health Center. He feels that he has been warmly welcomed into the community.
Physician Assistant Katherine Blomgren’s transition from medical school to her first professional position has been an exciting experience. She says it is very rewarding to finally put into practice everything she learned and see its effect positively change the health and well-being of her patients.
Blomgren works in Dermatology seeing patients of all ages for skin conditions ranging from eczema and acne to melanoma and skin cancer screenings.
Blomgren says the people of Fort Dodge and the surrounding communities have been very welcoming and gracious.
Dr. Hanaa Abou Ouf came to Trimark this past summer, joining Drs. Richard Votta and Ramadevi Sankaran to provide comprehensive pediatric care, including well visits, sports physicals, and sick visits.
She says her transition has been smooth and everybody has been helpful in answering questions and offering a helping hand.
Dr. Theo Barley says that he is enjoying his new position at Trimark and that the transition to his new location has been without difficulty. He says the difference from his previous location to Trimark is that at Trimark he is entirely responsible for his patients’ care. Dr. Barley practices traditional Family Medicine at Trimark.
Among the other new providers to Trimark Physicians Group are Dr. Laura Miegge, Dr. John Alcini, Dr. Sugata Sensarma, Dr. Zachary Adkins, Dr. Jason Krist, and Dr. David Taylor.
