Trimark Physicians Group in Fort Dodge has seen many changes and upgrades over the past year. Included was the facelift that the Trimark OB/GYN Clinic recently received. To go along with a brand new suite, the OB/GYN Clinic has new services, new equipment, a new doctor, and a new manager.
Shelby Medina served Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo for 15 years before she transferred to the Trimark Physicians Group in November. Medina is now the manager for Trimark OB/GYN Clinic in Fort Dodge. She describes her job as to identify and facilitate any new opportunities and improve any current processes to ensure that patients receive excellent care. Medina talks about new changes to the OB/GYN Clinic, including Urodynamics testing.
Urodynamics is a study that assesses how the bladder and urethra are performing their job of storing and releasing urine.
Urodynamic tests help your doctor or nurse see how well your bladder and sphincter muscles work and can help explain symptoms such as: incontinence, frequent urination, sudden strong urges to urinate, problems starting a urine stream, painful urination, problems emptying your bladder completely, and recurring urinary tract infections.
The tests, themselves, last for approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
The doctor mainly responsible for making Urodynamics testing available to all patients is Dr. James Turek. Dr. Turek joined Trimark Physicians Group in June of 2009 and specializes in Urogynecology. According to Medina, he and Dr. Brian Welch are the doctors who perform Urodynamics testing, which is exclusive to the Trimark OB/GYN Clinic in Fort Dodge.
Medina and her staff are also excited about the newly remodeled suite that they have for the OB/GYN Clinic. Medina says it was necessary because of the new physician and the new patients the clinic is accepting. She adds that it is nice to have the increased office capacity. The new suite is located next to the current Trimark OB/GYN suite in Physicians Office Building West.
One of the features of the new suite is that patients can have ultrasounds. Medina says it has been wonderful to have and that the transfer of the ultrasound equipment was part of the expansion. She says it has been very convenient for the patients as they can have everything done right there in the office.
Currently, all physicians in the Trimark OB/GYN Clinic are accepting new patients. Along with Dr. Turek and Dr. Welch, Dr. Robert O’Connor and Dr. Ilene Olson form the staff of providers for the clinic.
